The New Moon in Aquarius

Mar 11, 2019

The Aquarius new moon on February 11th, 2021 invites change and forward-thinking into our lives. This lunar phase alone is ideal for setting intentions and planning ahead. With Aquarius at play, the future is further emphasized. This is a great time to reflect on the direction of our lives, and where we need to assert our energy. However, take care to ‘check yourself before you wreck yourself’.

Six planets occupy Aquarius, making this sign a powerhouse during the new moon. With a strong pull towards authentic expression, Aquarius dances to the beat of its own drum.

This archetype is all about revolution and change. It is the way-maker, rebel, and visionary. Aquarius evaluates what isn’t working, and then carves a new path. It’s known to be quirky and eccentric, as it isn’t always understood. This is because Aquarius is dialed into the future, receiving downloads of insight and pushing the collective forward.

On the surface, one could say that this is a great time for shift and movement. However, the planets in Aquarius square Mars in Taurus. This provides us with an opportunity to see where we are being stubborn, impatient, or inflexible around change. Taurus, an earth sign, reminds us to ground in the midst of transformation. It is time to utilize our internal resources for mindfulness and peace. Change can invoke uncomfortable shadows, as it challenges us to let go of what feels familiar and safe. Humans naturally attach to comfort, however, this can hinder our progress and growth.

A compromised Mars can also bring about impatience. You may know what you want, but forcing change prematurely will lead to unnecessary frustration. Aquarius, an air sign, is full of thoughts and ideas. It can be easy to get lost in the big picture, without actually taking measures to materialize the vision. Mars in Taurus reminds us to take slow, practical, and intentional action towards a high quality life. When you get swept up in thoughts and ideas of the future, remember to take a deep breath, and feel into your body. Tune into your senses and the physical world around you, trusting the process. Though Mars is quick and impulsive, Taurus is invested in the long-haul.

Mercury remains in retrograde until February 21st. This is a great time to slow down, go within, and reflect on how we are showing up. The archetype of Aquarius prioritizes authenticity, regardless of how it is perceived. It isn’t afraid to take the road less traveled, as long as it feels in alignment with truth. On the new moon, consider the following questions. Are there areas in your life that don’t feel authentic, but conform to societal views? Would changing those areas improve your quality of life? If so, what are the practical steps you can take to materialize your ideas? Take note of any uncomfortable feelings that arise during this process, and be sure to give yourself love, nurturing, and care.

Happy new moon in Aquarius, my sweets.
